Maine Beef
Producers Association
Staff

Pamela Harnden (Executive Director) - Dryden, Maine
info@mainebeefproducersassociation.org
Pam got her start in agriculture on a small dairy farm and obtained a B.S. in
Agribusiness from the University of Maine.  Pam and her family operated a
diversified farm raising apples, highbush blueberries, cut flowers, herbs and
vegetables for many years.  She participated in a 2-year leadership development
course sponsored by the New England Farm Bureaus and is very active in
several agricultural organizations.  Pam is excited about working with Maine's
beef producers and would like to hear feedback, both positive and negative, so
that she can better help individual farmers and the industry as a whole to prosper.

Board of Directors

Peter Dusoe (President), Troy, Maine
Pete started beef farming in 1995 after 20 years as a dairy farmer.  Along with his
son, they maintain 25 cows-calves on their farm in Albion and have been active
behind the scenes on several farms.  In 2000, out of need, they started to
fabricate handling facilities for themselves and then to others and continue to do
so.  Pete is proud to be able to work with the MBPA Feeder Calf Sales each year.

Robert Dusoe (1st Vice President), Albion, Maine
Rob grew up on the family's dairy farm, which changed over to beef in 1995.  He
still continues to work with his father, Peter, during the summer on the family farm
and works as a home heating delivery driver and technician during the winter.

Gabe Clark (2nd Vice President) - New Portland, Maine

Rick Barr (Executive Secretary) - Farmington, Maine

David Ordway (Secretary) - Freeport, Maine

Sally Caverly (Treasurer) - Clinton, Maine

Scot Adams - Starks, Maine
Scot raises registered Belted Galloway's for seedstock and freezer trade.  He
also is owner of Skowhegan Electric Motors.  He is married and has four
daughters.  Scot can be reached at
mnshadow@tdstelme.net.

Pat Bates - Turner
Bates' Norwest Angus Farm gained its long-standing reputation for top conformity
and grass-based genetics many years ago starting with Marshall Bates, Pat’s
dad, and the reputation lives on today.  Bates purebreds have founded many
herds regionally.  A director of the Maine Angus Association, Pat and now Yvette
Bates both bolster the breed, Yvette as Treasurer.  Also serving on the board of
the Maine Beef Industry Council and a member of the Maine Grass Farmers
Network, the Bates open their farm to show how they convert good grass and
timothy hay into high-quality protein.

Tom Trenholm - Bangor, Maine
Tom currently practices law in Bangor.  His family operates West Wind Angus in
Winthrop.  After raising and exhibiting registered Angus in Maine, Tom headed
west for a number of years.  He now resides in Bangor with his wife, Emily, who
is an oil painter.

Ed Carter - Richmond, Maine
Ed is a livestock production professional.  After managing the beef herd at Four
Corners Farm in Richmond for many years, he joined John Deere in sales and
service.  His travels give him first-hand knowledge of farming in Maine and the
issues farmers face today.  Ed is a dedicated supporter of 4-H and youth.  He can
be found around the barns during shows and behind the scenes at cooperative
commercial and purebred sales.  He is Chairman of the Maine Beef Industry
Council and has held leadership roles in the New England Hereford Association.

Ray Buck - Chesterville, Maine

Kevin Woltemath - New Gloucester, Maine
Kevin is Director of Procurement for Pineland Farms Natural Meats, Inc.  He is
responsible for the fed cattle marketed under the Wolfe's Neck label and the
sourcing of feeder cattle for Maine's largest beef producer.  Prior to his current
position, his experience since his first 4-H project in the 70's was in the purebred
beef cattle industry, including both ownership of his own cattle and employment
on farms, involving four different breeds.  He is in his fourth term as an MBPA
board member, the first starting in 1997, and was a past chairman of both the
Maine Beef Expo and the Northeast Livestock Expo (NELE).  He continues to
serve as an MBPA representative on the NELE Board.

Dick Brown - Richmond, Maine

Tim Bartlett - New Gloucester, Maine

Robert Campbell - Sidney, Maine
Bob, and his wife Diane, have owned and operated Wolf Creek Farm in Sidney
since 1991.  Their herd is registered and commercial grade Herefords.  The
farm's emphasis is on the freezer trade and they are moving to include a farm
store for packaged frozen beef.  Bob is also a member of the American Hereford
Association and the New England Hereford Association.

Jeff Randall - Freeport, Maine
Jeff grew up tending his uncle’s beef cattle and got hooked at an early age.  His
interest is a benefit to Maine’s beef industry, as Jeff is both an active worker and
leader.  When there’s a sale, Jeff is there working -- rounding up cattle, setting up
panels, and herding sale prospects into chutes.  Although he's on the road much
of the time as an environmental engineer with Synagro, Jeff still manages to
support Maine’s cattle functions with his keen mind.  Jeff is a long-standing
director of the Maine Beef Industry Council since 1999 and Vice Chair since 2001.
